"Busy Mind"

This year's Sand Sculpting contest in San Diego brought out some amazing creative talent and ideas.  The medium itself is nothing short of difficult.  We learned that the sand is actually river sand so it has some clay content.  Nevertheless, it is still sand and is delicate to say the least.  Making these creations visual masterpieces and temporary.  The themes ranged from "Plants vs Zombies" a popular video game to "Human Bean" depicting a woman cureld up in a bean pod.  Professional and ametuers alike join to display their labors at the harbor in San Diego.  For more pictures you can go to the web site, ussandsculpting.com

  1. What an amazing sculpture! I've always wanted to see this contest but never had the chance. Using sand for a creative medium is really thinking outside of the box.

    1. I know! They used to hold it at Imperial Beach and actually do it on the beach but apparently it got too big and parking was at issue. Maybe you can plan a trip around it next year. It takes a great deal of vision, planning and patience for this art form!
